Ageing, pregnancy, and weight changes cause our tummies to become loose with increased amounts of skin and fat. We experience decreased abdominal wall strength and lose the contours at our waist due to the spreading apart of the rectus muscles, mainly if you’ve been pregnant.

Abdominoplasty, commonly known as a tummy tuck, addresses these two structures to rejuvenate the abdomen.

How it works

I will make an incision on the lower abdomen under the bikini line, where excess fat and skin will be removed. We will then effectively remove any stretch marks and loose skin that you may have. In addition, liposuction is usually performed to contour the waist better and flatten the upper part of the abdomen.

The rectus muscles are then reapproximated with stitches providing an hourglass shape with a good transition between the waist and hips. The procedure will also strengthen your musculature to a certain extent. As a result, you have a rejuvenated and flattened abdominal wall with pleasing contours.

An abdominoplasty is often combined with other procedures such as breast reduction/lifts or augmentation for a more complete overall and harmonious appearance.
